Battery capacity

This is straightforward and probably the most important. Simply put, the capacity of the battery is how much electrical energy it can store. This directly correlates to how long it can charge your Quest! At 10,000 mAh, our Quest power bank has almost 50% capacity more than the first leading competitor we surveyed, while coming to a draw with Competitor 2.

A lot of our customers want to know exactly how much more Oculus Quest battery life you can get with a power bank. Unfortunately, this isn’t that easy to answer as the electricity drain varies depending on your use, such as what game you play. We have tested our product extensively and concluded that you can feasibly play up to 8 hours with a fully charged Quest.

We want to be clear that this is an approximation and we don’t guarantee you will always get a full 8 hours. However, you will get the same amount of playtime with our 10,000 mAh battery as you get from the 10,000 mAh battery from Competitor 2, and a lot more playtime than if you use a 7,000 mAh battery from Competitor 1.

If the Quest is less than fully charged, there is less total electrical energy available and of course the playtime gets shorter. It is also worth noting that the quality of all batteries slowly degrades over time, including the internal battery inside the Oculus Quest.

Sufficient current

Another key differentiator in our comparison of Oculus Quest power banks, the current is the rate of flow of electric charge, measured in amperes (A). That is to say, it’s how quickly the electrical energy can be transferred from the power bank to the Oculus Quest.

Here Competitor 1 has a major weakness, as it has a very limited current. All electrical devices have limits on how much electricity they can handle at a time, but the Quest frequently consumes more than this product can deliver. The result is that Competitor 1 can’t keep up with the energy consumption, and the Quest headset is drained over time with less and less charge left.

Although this still allows lengthened playtime if you have the headset charged from the beginning, it means the battery simply won’t function with a headset that’s already empty.

The included charging cable for Oculus Quest is rated for 3A. However, in practice the Quest almost never consumes a full 3A in use. The typical electricity drain from a battery pack is around 2.6A. Our product has the capability to provide all the current needed to not only keep the Quest running, but to continuously charge it while in use. So does Competitor 2. So once again, these two products are functionally identical in this regard.

Precision power indicator

There are different ways you can display the amount of power left in a battery. Many cheap power banks use a simple set of little lamps (usually 4 of them) as an indicator. Both Competitor 1 and Competitor 2 uses this simplistic system, although Competitor 2 uses a more stylized version. The result is that you only get a very rough estimate of the battery level.

Simple power indicator as used by our competitors.

Our full range power indicator that tells you
exactly how much battery power you have left.

Our product uses a more modern, more sophisticated battery charge display with the full range from 0%-100%. This gives you much more exact information about how much charge the battery has left, just like the power indication on your smartphone or inside the Quest itself.

Our price is significantly lower than both competitors!
